[Be Proactive] ! – suggestive words to Japanese [日本人論]
[Be Proactive] ! – suggestive words to Japanese.
[Be Proactive] is the word of Stephen Richard Covey.
This expression [Be Proactive] appears at its first one of [The 7 Habits]
written in his book titled [The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People].

To us Japanese, it’s a little hard to describe it with its corresponding
Japanese in a single word. But, its opposite word being [Reactive],
it will have the meaning of [Taking the lead in doing something].
In my opinion, many of us Japanese are [passive] generally.
If they are worked on by others, they [react] against them.
In other words, they do not try to work on others actively and willingly
on their voluntary idea, unless they will be worked on by others.
Its opposite [Proactive] people will be perhaps very few even if any.
It would not be too much to say that the [Proactive] people
will not be the majority among us Japanese.
It would be true that most Japanese are mostly [Reactive].
However, I would hope that our people will also take the lead
In taking action to give some good influence to the people around
by [making something happen] consciously.
That’s why I understand that [Being Proactive] is to
[Make Something Happen].
I would welcome any reaction from Japanese against the above claim.
